homebrew

<a residency and college for science and tech>

about

homebrew is a physical space where the spirit of the original homebrew computer club meets the intellectual ambition of the institute for advanced study. we’re a community of lifelong learners who love exploring for its own sake, getting nerdsniped by hard problems, and sharing ideas freely. we’re playful, but we take our projects seriously.

homebrew operates as a hybrid of research lab, experimental college, hackerspace, and social club. we aspire to create a small pocket in nyc that finds awe in technology and its potential, as well as nurture big ideas that might not fit in conventional institutions.

*disclaimer*

homebrew is a place for a very particular kind of curiosity—designed for those who feel personally responsible for shaping the future of science, technology, and knowledge.

it’s an experiment in what’s possible when the right mix of thinkers, builders, and explorers come together. to protect that, we’re being deeply intentional about who joins—not to exclude, but to stay true to what we’re building. this isn’t about who’s ‘good enough’ or ‘smart enough’—it’s about whether homebrew is the right fit for you, and whether you are the right fit for homebrew.
